#291. September 9th, 2013: Blake Johnston

A couple of months ago I saw Blake make a status on Facebook and knew I had to message him. He is always so incredibly positive and genuine with everything he says. He sticks out among the crowd and just makes your day, everyday. Anyway, when I was about to message him, a message from HIM popped in and he was thanking me for what I post. It was literally a “meant to be” moment 🙂 Blake is truly a gem on this earth though. He has such a passion for making people happy and he’s also pretty damn good at photography and videography too. He truly makes you realize what’s important in life and I think that is something to always cherish and appreciate. Blake is just a quality human being that everyone needs to have as a friend in life. Blake, thank you so much for all that you do and for being a shining light in so many lives. Thank you for all the encouragement and for leading by example in your wonderful life. Thank you for just always being a rockstar and for being my friend. Can’t wait for the future! 🙂

#100. March 2nd, 2013: Kayla Mallery

Everyone needs a Kayla Mallery in their life. Kayla is the best friend you could ever ask for, hands down. If you need someone to laugh with at absolutely anything, she’s the one. If you need someone to talk seriously to about an issue, she’s the one. If you need someone to bounce ideas off of for a new and exciting project, she’s absolutely the one. And if you need someone to talk about traveling the world and helping others and planning TEDx events with, she’s definitely the one 🙂 In all seriousness though, Kayla is a ridiculously well-rounded individual, complete with an insane work ethic and an unmatched ability to make you feel comfortable. Kayla has one of the warmest personalities and is incredibly dedicated to helping those in her life. Kayla also has a wicked sense of humor and it honestly gets me through every day. To give some context, Kayla is the other House Staff member on our lovely 8th floor, surrounded by all these freshmen (love them!). I met Kayla in August. To me, that’s absurd. It feels like we’ve known each other for years and we are sometimes (usually) inseparable. She played a tremendous role in helping me with the GW Before I Die Wall and do NOT even get me started on how much she has helped with TEDxFoggyBottom. Kayla is seriously the best. Kayla might not be the loudest person in the room, but she can captivate anyone with her sincerity, her incredibly positive persona, and her intelligence. Speaking of intelligence, Kayla is also insanely smart and has a phenomenal job this summer 🙂 On the other hand, Kayla’s passion for event planning and helping the world little by little through what makes her happy is unmatched. We both have grown so much this year and to see where she is now is unbelievable 🙂 I love it. She really does dedicate ALL of her time to any task that she has and she puts forth the most quality product every single time. Sometimes almost too quality 🙂 On another note, Kayla has given me the support and kindness that I have needed this year. She’s been someone I can ALWAYS count on for absolutely anything and she has helped me when I’ve been at my lowest. She has also been there, right by my side, at my best, usually because she helped in some ridiculously devoted sort of way. Kayla is the type of person who gives you all of her effort to get something done, and then won’t get the recognition that she deserves for it. She’s a behind the scenes type of person, and yet with the amount of work she does, her bubbly personality, and everything else that makes her amazing, she should be on the frontline receiving awards every day. Well Kayla, this is just a piece of my recognition for you 🙂 And I know you’ll say you didn’t deserve it you crazy person 🙂 Anyway, Kayla, thank you so much for coming into my life. Thank you so much for changing the way I look at the world, the people around me, and myself. Thank you so much for showing me the true meaning of compassion, dedication, and commitment. Thank you so much for always dealing with my craziness and those times where I refuse to work because laying down just feels so much better 🙂 Thank you so much for your amazing humor and your ability to relate on so many levels. Thank you so much for all of our fun, sad, humorous, and exciting conversations and thank you so much for all the help you’ve given me on my projects. Thank you so much for being the incredible human being that you are. Thank you for being you 🙂 Kayla, for all of that, I thank you, and cheers to the next big project we do…tomorrow 😀
