#283. September 1st, 2013: Matt Ricci

You know that saying about how sometimes when you’re looking for something so desperately it can be right in front of you the whole time? That’s what happened with this guy, but I’m so glad it played out the way it did 🙂 Matt is truly one of those people that when you meet him, you know you’re in the presence of someone truly special. You immediately notice his mesmerizing eyes and his gorgeous smile that makes you feel so safe. He has this way of lighting up the room when he walks in. He can make you feel so comforted, and he can make you feel like you’re the luckiest person in the world just by being his friend 🙂 Matt has always just been such a fantastic and fun person to be around. He’s such a goofball and yet I can’t even begin to count the amount of times he and I have had thoughtful and serious conversations about life, family, ambition, TED (of course), journeys abroad – the list goes on. The thing about Matt is that you can have a conversation with him about anything. You can laugh with him, cry around him, make weird noises around him, and with that, odds are he’ll make weird noises back at you 🙂 He’s literally a beautiful bundle of joy and happiness that is complete with his spectacular personality and sense of humor. I LOVE his sense of humor. His laugh always makes me laugh and I love that he and I can do what we love without taking things too seriously. Matt is such a perfect balance of confidence, bravery, modesty, and intelligence. He is such a kind and compassionate human being and his eye is always on the look-out for others and how he can help in any way. He surprises me every day with some crazy talent of his. Whether it’s how good he is at drawing or his acceptance to Medical School so early, Matt always has some fantastic success in his life, and yet he matches that with his down to earth persona and ability to look at his flaws and mistakes and improve in the future. Most importantly to me, however, is that Matt makes me proud to be who I am. He listens to what I have to say and he supports what I do. He makes me feel appreciated and loved and he encourages me to keep doing what I’m doing. I feel so comfortable being my weird self around him and love that we can be so silly together. For goodness sake, tonight we spent a good couple of minutes discussing the animals we saw in the butter spread on my bread, just like clouds in the sky. Ugh. I can’t get over it. Matt is my best friend. He’s someone I trust. He’s someone I’ve known for a year now and he’s the made the past few months the happiest ones of my life. Matt’s someone you gotta meet guys 🙂 Matt, thank you so much for being the best boyfriend anyone could ask for  🙂 Thank you so much for being so encouraging and for being so strong and filled with perseverance and drive. Thank you for the wonderful, countless memories and moments we’ve already shared together, and for the millions more to come 🙂 Thank you for our wonderful friendship and for trusting me 🙂 Thank you for being such a beautiful human being, of course on the outside, but especially on the inside. Thank you for being such a lovable person who makes everyone around him feel so happy and welcome 🙂 Thank you for always humbling me when I need it and for always having the funniest ways to make fun of me 🙂 Thank you for your incredible sense of humor and for always enjoying a good laugh. Thank you for giving me someone to lean on in times of stress, and for giving me someone to share all my triumphs and successes with 🙂 Thank you for having such an exquisite family and for teaching me that esterification that one day 🙂 Thank you for those cookies, milk and flowers that special day, and thank you for all the cuteness that you simply radiate on a daily basis 🙂 Thank you for loving the way I say “literally” and for always dealing with my TED Talk rants and life chats. Thank you for appreciating me for who I am and for the unconditional support. Thank you for being you, and thank you for endless times in the future that I get to wake up in the morning, think of you, and smile 🙂
