#262. August 11th, 2013: Maddison Bruer

I remember the first time I saw this amazing woman. I walked into JQA and there she was with those glasses on, tall and gorgeous, smiling face. It’s weird thinking back to that moment because I barely knew Maddison then, but now, she’s one of the strongest and most genuine people that I know. I think one of the most incredible things about Maddison is her determination and devotion to be the best she can be, and let me tell you, she’s pretty damn unbelievable. Never will you meet someone as hardworking and as trustworthy as Maddison. She is just one of those people who gets her shit done and with the utmost quality and care. She has got to be one of the most well respected student leaders on this campus, by fellow students and administrators (including President Knapp), and she deserves every single piece of recognition she gets. But that’s the thing; Maddison is someone who doesn’t care for the spotlight. She works so hard behind the scenes and yet she truly warrants so much admiration and a million awards. I am so inspired by her ability to let things roll off her back and the way she carries herself. Maddison, I know you will be such a wonderfully successful person in life, and I know how much that means to you. You let nothing get in your way, and yet you live your life with such care and compassion for others at the same time. You are so well-rounded and are just so incredibly smart and talented it’s ridiculous. Every time I see you I feel so comfortable around you, and also so honored to be your friend. Having the relationship we have, including our hilarious inside jokes, is something I will always cherish and it will always make me smile 🙂 Maddison, thank you so much for opening up to me and letting me tell you about my life as well. Thank you for your courage, both on and off the stage, and thank you for leading those Parent groups with me 🙂 Thank you for our lovely scene which we have forgotten all lines to 🙂 Thank you for always making me laugh and for always giving me something to cry of laughter for! Thank you for running out of p-skits that day because you were laughing too hard. Thank you for your “sloppy joes” comment and and all the other delirious times we’ve shared. Thank you for that unforgettable walk we had to the Lincoln that night months ago 🙂 Thank you for sharing in my love for BTS 🙂 Thank you for just being such a phenomenal independent woman and for being the brave individual that you are 🙂 Thank you for being one of the most sincere and committed people that I know. When I think of people I wanted to meet in college and of people I want to call friends of mine 40 years from now, that’s you. YOU, Maddison, are truly one-of-a-kind, and I know that anyone who knows you that’s reading this is nodding their head right now in agreement 🙂 Thank you for always having something profound to say, and thank you for always, ALWAYS listening to what is said before you speak. Thank you for dealing with my craziness as always, and thank you for that time you said “ENOUGH!” because that was spectacular 🙂 Thank you for being such a unique and magnificent and beautiful person and thank you for being in my life 🙂 Thank you for NOT being small minded and thank you for having dreams and successes that are bigger than this world. You’re marvelous Maddison, and you’re already changing the world 🙂
