#256. August 5th, 2013: Emily Baumgaertner

When I think of Emily, so many words run through my mind and so many memories form into a smile on my face. Emily is a role model. She’s a leader, a friend, a goofball, a beautiful young woman, a superhero, someone I can trust, and someone who makes me proud to be who I am. But those words are literally the biggest understatement of what Emily is. It’s so hard to sum up such a marvelous human being who radiates honesty, courage, and someone who is just so full of life. As our “mom,” Emily has been one of the best influences in my life. She has given me the gift of trust and of unconditional love and care. Emily has been such a pillar of support in my life, and always at times when I’ve needed it most. She’s been the source of me doubling over laughing many times, sometimes in bliss and sometimes in embarrassment. Whether I was in a snuggie or whether she was making weird faces or eating cupcakes, Emily has always found a way to make me laugh and smile. In my mind Emily is also the queen of balance. She has such a knack for maintaining healthy relationships and yet also performing so well at her job and getting time for herself. Like I said, to call her a role model is a large understatement. I can’t even begin to describe how much I admire Emily’s bravery and determination. Her ability to make incredible decisions while also dealing with the stress of it all is truly remarkable. Even more than that though is to see how she reacts to things in life. It’s always with a step forward, always with her head held high. Emily, you seriously are the definition of perseverance and beauty and I cannot stress that enough. Emily has simply been such an inspiration in my life and I so happy to have her as a friend. Emily, thank you so much for being the best HQ Mom we could ever ask for 🙂 Thank you so much for dealing with my ridiculous run ins with you and thank you so much for always finding a way to turn my face bright red with humility 🙂 Thank you so much for always challenging me, whether that’s in the office with voicemails, or with my perspective. Seriously though, you’ve taught me more than you know just by living with your incredible morals and values. Thank you so much for always having a rational and optimistic view on things and thank you so much for being such a quality leader. Thank you so much for being there for me when I have needed it and thank you so much for listening to me when we both know it’s hard. Thank you so much for all the fun and hilarious moments you’ve created and thank you so much for being such a phenomenal human being. Emily, you seriously don’t get told this enough: You are such a strong and fantastic woman and anyone reading this knows how absolutely fortunate we are to have you in our lives. You make this world brighter every day with your gorgeous smile and your stunning personality. Don’t ever stop being the spectacular individual that you are 🙂
