#226. July 6th, 2013: Kasey Packer

When I met Kasey, I knew I was in the presence of someone truly special. She’s a goddess, an angel, a spectacular young woman who’s going places πŸ™‚ Kasey is honestly one of the most genuine people that I know. Armed with a smile and a laugh that will make you happy beyond belief, Kasey runs through life at a pace meant only for superheroes. She’s involved in just about everything on and off campus and still manages to find time for her friends and family. She is easily the most modest and humble human being that I know, someone who will always deflect a compliment with one about you. She has eyes that light up any room and show her deep love and kindness for everyone around her. She can have true and passionate talks with you at any hour of the day and she always listen to what you have to say. She treats you like you’re the only person in the world and she gives you all of her attention. She can pick you up when you’re down just by being around you and she can truly make you feel happy whenever you need it. Kasey is the definition of beauty and she represents that on the outside and on the inside. She is one of the strongest and toughest people that I know and yet still manages to push through the bad and appreciate the good. This past spring break I got to spend a week with her in New Orleans building homes for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Kasey was always lending her hand to help and was the first to motivate those around her. But getting to know her there was just a teaser for what this summer would bring. Being on Colonial Cabinet with her has given me even more of a reason to absolutely care for her and admire her wonderful self. She has shown me the value of trust and friendship in ways no one in my life has and I respect her so very much. She has taught me how to be strong and how to share things about myself and to learn from them. She’s an inspiration to me and so many others and I know, as I told her tonight, that she will be in my life forever. I’ll be calling her up years down the road asking for her family to come over for dinner with mine and she’ll have to take a break from changing the world to do so, but she’ll be there πŸ™‚ Kasey, thank you so much for being in my life. I seriously can’t imagine my life without a role model and a mentor like you in it and I appreciate that so much. Thank you so much for opening up and trusting all of us on Cabinet this summer and for being the remarkable human being that you are πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for making me smile and thank you so much for that conversation we had at Starbucks πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for being who you are and for developing into the strong, dedicated, hardworking, and incredible individual that you are. Thank you for being you Kasey; you truly have changed my life and will continue to show the world your magic for the rest of your life πŸ™‚
