#191. June 1st, 2013: Steve Zabinski

Yaooooooooo! Yes, Steve and I are both some of the weirdest kids on the block, but we are damn proud of it. Steve was my roommate all of freshmen year and I so thankful and appreciative for that. Steve is one of the kindest people that you’ll meet. He would never hurt anyone and he always has such a wonderful perspective on the world. Steve might not be the loudest person in the room, but his integrity and courage speak louder than his words. He has such a fantastic attitude, a spectacular sense of humor, and such a will to do better and to make the world a more beautiful place, especially through film. Steve is hands down one of my closest friends here at GW and he knows me better than most people do. He’s been there to help me through some of my toughest times, and he’s been there to laugh until tears with me on many sleepless nights. He’s pulled all-nighters will me and he’s watched countless youtube videos with me. I saw Forrest Gump for the first time with him and he was the one in the room when I got my email saying I was accepted to attend TEDGlobal. He and I have laughed for hours over the hundreds of inside jokes we have and I will cherish those moments until the day I die šŸ™‚ He and I have shared many nights at our favorite burger joints and he and I have had just a wonderful time getting to know each other. I can honestly say that I could not have had a better roommate and will always be so happy and honored to know Steve. Steve, thank you so much for all of the ridiculous memories and all of the hilarious moments we have shared. I don’t need to list them all because I know that both of us smiling in this moment is enough proof that we had a once in a lifetime year together šŸ™‚ Thank you for being there to listen to me and thank you for being there to watch me be a hyper crazy person almost 100% of the time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and dreams with me and thank you for all of the superb time we’ve shared together. I am so thankful to have shared the memories we’ve had together and I am so excited to see what the future will bring. As I said tonight, in a decade or so, I know I can call up your office, get through to your desk, say something like yaoooo or “We’ll do it LIVE!” and be greeted by that phenomenal phrase we always say: “What’s up, _____?” šŸ™‚ Thank you again Steve for everything. You’re a remarkable man and I love having you in my life šŸ™‚
