#160. May 1st, 2013: Alex Schindler

In sophomore year of high school, I met one of my best friends. Alex Schindler came into my life and I knew he was a rockstar. We immediately bonded over things like The Office, soccer, and getting made fun of by Mr. Leal. We started hanging out instantly and have been friends ever since. We’ve played hundreds, and I mean that, of games of ping pong together, and I will never forget the phrase, “ping pong rally’s on!” I still have that sheet we used to keep score on and he certainly is winning. We’ve traveled to the depths of nowhere in LA to get new rims for my car, and we survived that journey which is definitely an accomplishment. One of my favorite memories with Alex is when we were driving back from soccer practice one night and we screamed out the car windows because we realized junior year was starting the next day. Alex and I would always exchange music and he always had the better songs, trust me. Especially that Metric song that I came to LOVE. The amount of driving adventures we’ve been on are countless and I am so unbelievably grateful for all of them ๐Ÿ™‚ Alex, thank you so much for being my friend and for being there for me during many times of sadness and excitement freak outs. Thank you so much for being supportive of me when I came out and for listening to me rant over the years about my boy issues. Thank you so much for always knowing how to make me laugh and for giving me a lot of new perspectives on life. Honestly though. You taught me a lot and I enjoyed our time together so much when we lived in the same damn city. Thank you so much for being my teammate, on and off the soccer field. Playing for CCA and Attack with you was so much fun. I knew someone on that field had my back and that I could trust you with anything. Thank you so much for doing donuts in the practice field parking lot and getting yelled at ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you so much for all of the crazy memories and experiences that I will never forget. Thank you for taking me to see the beach at sunset so often. Thank you for getting me to relax when I was stressed. Thank you for making high school such an enjoyable experience. Thank you for dealing with my constant business and obsession with ASB and TED. Thank you for all the car washes we did together and for trying to get me to tan which never worked out because you were always tanner. I’m literally sitting here thinking of all of these memories and it’s making me all nostalgic ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you so much Alex for just a great few years and for remaining in my life, even though we are thousands of miles away. ย Thank you for the EPIC and unbelievable night with the meteor shower and for sharing in that ridiculous moment when we saw that big ass meteor go over us. Thank you so much for just everything and thank you for being the remarkable person that you are ๐Ÿ™‚ For all of that, Alex, I thank you ๐Ÿ™‚
