#130. April 1st, 2013: Ms. Chufo

When I graduated high school, I remember thinking about everything that had made those 4 years such a magical and transformative experience. The first thing that came to mind was the people. There were so many different individuals that made my time at CCA so fantastic, and someone who is easily one of the top three would be Ms. Chufo. Ms. Chufo is one of the best parts about CCA. If you’ve had her as a teacher, you know exactly why she’s so amazing. In fact, if you haven’t, it would behoove you to take a class with her 🙂 Anyway, Ms. Chufo really is such an incredible woman! During my freshman year, she was always so open and willing to let us learn and develop into our own skin and she always kept in contact during the year after (LOVED the letters to ourselves 🙂 ). She inspired me to do better each and every day, and she inspired me to fail. Yes, fail. She encouraged me to try my best and try new things and to look at my failure as a platform for success and as a learning experience. Ahh! I honestly cannot explain how much I appreciate Ms. Chufo 🙂 During the TEDxYouth@SanDiego experience, she played the pivotal role of helping to organize and keep everyone motivated and calm, all while carrying three babies in her belly! And do NOT get me started on those babies. She and Blackie have the cutest triplets you’ve ever seen and are the best and most supportive and adorable parents you’ve ever met. She and Blackie are the epitome of love, commitment, and fun and I am so happy to have them both in my life 🙂 I remember one night towards the end of a TEDx meeting when Chufo and I were sitting alone in the backyard of the Rhodes’ home, she told me something about success and the future that has stuck with me ever since. Just like “in regard to” 🙂 In all honesty, that conversation is one of my all-time favorites and it makes me smile just thinking about it 🙂 Chufo is also just one of the most bubbly, happy, honest, and courageous people I’ve ever met. She may be small, but she is armed with unbelievable strength, integrity, perseverance, and so much determination that she brought the Nest to CCA’s campus. She is seriously one of the most influential people in my life and she deserves ridiculous amounts of praise for the way she has positively changed my life and SO many others. Ms. Chufo, thank you so much for being the incredible person that you are and for being in my life 🙂 Thank you so much for those great email exchanges my freshman year and for giving me the gift of an education. Thank you so much for allowing me to grow and thank you so much for being so welcoming and comforting, 100% of the time. Thank you so much for always having such a shining smile on your face and for being such a magnificent mother to your three lovely children. Thank you for driving us that day to TEDxAFC and thank you for being such a role model in my life. Thank you for making me so happy and thank you for being such a truly exquisite individual 🙂 For all of that, Ms. Chufo, I thank you 🙂 Apologies for any grammatical errors I have made! 🙂
