#61. January 22nd, 2013: Candy Chang

Wow. Today was one of the most inspiring and magical days I have had in a long time. Today would not have happened had it not been for the lovely Candy Chang, the creator of the Before I Die Wall. I first met Candy at TEDGlobal but I really got to spend some time with her today and I was able to see even more how beautiful she is in every way. When I picked her up to take her to lunch, she was unbelievably friendly and we ran across the street together to catch the light! Candy gave a phenomenal talk during the unveiling of our GW Before I Die Wall and yet again captivated me with her imagination, her passion, and her unending joy and love for the world around us. Candy is honestly one of the most fantastic human beings I’ve ever met. She has a remarkable refreshing view on communities and public space and she has the most rich vocabulary you’ve ever heard that literally makes you excited to change the world just by hearing it 🙂 Candy is extremely kind and compassionate as well and you can tell right off the bat that she loves the people of this earth and that she cherishes life every single day. Candy is incredibly thoughtful and intricate with her ideas and how she so eloquently expresses them with the world. I am seriously so in love and inspired by the way she looks at things in everyday life. It’s as if she has a special “amazing person only” glasses on that allow her to see new and exciting opportunities for the places that she goes 🙂 She is so unbelievably supportive of all walks of life and when I was talking with her today about my future and what I love, I felt like I was talking with an old friend who understood me and more importantly, I felt like I was speaking with someone who actually cared about the things that I am doing. It’s hard to explain, but Candy is definitely one of those people who shines a bright light wherever she goes and I am honored to even know her. Candy, thank you so very much for being with us here today at GW and for putting the passion and enthusiasm of the Wall and it’s integrity into context. Thank you so much for doing what you are doing with the world and for helping others help others along the way. Thank you so much for being so down to earth and so easy to connect with. Thank you so much for making me laugh and smile and for making me think deeply about what I want to do with my life. Thank you so much for being honest with me and for offering me advice with things I’m constantly debating and contemplating 🙂 Thank you so much for having such a wonderful and gorgeous spirit and soul and for radiating warmth and kindness wherever you go! Thank you so much for the impact you have already played in my life and for changing the lives of so many others! Thank you so much for being you and for doing what you love with no strict or structured plan 🙂 Thank you so much for supporting me along my journey and for giving me the opportunity to have a fantastic Tuesday 🙂 For all of that, Candy, I thank you so very much! 😀
