#60. January 21st, 2013: Barack Obama

Today was the 57th Inauguration of an American President and as a student here at GW, I had the privilege of celebrating this amazing day in person. I slept for about 3 hours and then headed to my seats along with over a million other people from around the country. I won’t go into detail for lack of time, but I will say that today was one of the most exhilarating and out of body experience days I have ever had. The reason why I am thanking Obama here is because while giving his speech, it became so clear to me once again how far this country has come. Not only did we have an African American president up there, but he was recognizing the need for equality amongst the gay community and just about everyone to be honest 🙂 I am so unbelievably thankful that our country has made such positive and progressive moves and that Obama has been the first President to openly support gay marriage. There are so many reasons I could thank him but for now, I will just say that today was incredible and I want to thank him for being a phenomenal commander in chief of our country. Off to the Inaugural Ball! Anyway, for all of that, Mr. President, I thank you 🙂
