#30. December 22nd, 2012: Katie Twyman

Today is a wonderful day because I got to hear Katie’s voice and smile over the phone πŸ™‚ I just called her from the Dallas Fort Worth airport and it was just the greatest πŸ™‚ Katie is spectacular. She’s one of the most spirited and energetic people that I know and she has this natural glow that makes anyone want to be around her. Katie really does have something about her though that makes you happy. It’s almost as if she’s a firework that lights up the sky πŸ™‚ Anyway, throughout high school, Katie was someone that I looked up to. She always gave her best effort with whatever she was doing. She always was courageous and has never been afraid to just be herself. She is one of the most hardworking people that I know, as evidenced by playing a million varsity sports combined with classes and a love for helping the community and her friends around her. I believe the record was 3 varsity sports at once, Katie? Sheesh, you’re incredible. On top of this, Katie has always been the best friend to all of her friends. As I told her today on the phone, CCA is unique in that everyone is generally very friendly with each other and most people know each other, however, we do still have different friend groups. But Katie was someone that I knew I could count on in life, no matter how many times we spoke per month or per week. It wasn’t a matter of who her best friends were all the time, it was that another human needed something, sometimes just to be cheered up, and Katie would be there. Katie cares about everyone and is so kind and compassionate, 100% of the time. She’s got a smile that makes you think you missed the best joke in the world and so you start smiling and laughing too πŸ™‚ Katie makes you happy. She makes you feel loved and appreciated and I cannot thank her enough for that. Katie, thank you so much for being you. Thank you for being such a shining star at CCA throughout our high school experience and thank you for being a role model for myself and many others. Thank you for taking your energy and spunk and putting it to good use and thank you for making me smile over the years. You are wonderful πŸ™‚ For all of that, Katie, I thank you πŸ™‚
